Biography

David Engel, started with Manulife Financial in 1971, earned his CLU in 1977, and was a consistently above average producer. David has qualified  annually for Manulife’s North American and World Conferences.  He became one of the top 25 producers in Canada and was first in a minimum length of time, 20 years, to qualify for the 5 Star Master Builder. 

Further to David’s credit, he created numerous programs and products for  the life insurance industry.   He created “The Estate Bond” and “Generation Transfer Bond” presentations. He played an instrumental role in creating the slide seminar “Directions”, “Agent as Business Person” program, the “IRP” presentation, and designing the “IRP” spreadsheet.    Along with an associate, David developed and critiqued 6 critical spreadsheet concepts currently in use at a major insurance company. 

Since 1973, David has been a member of the Million-Dollar Round Table and is a Life and Qualifying Member, of the association.  He has been recipient of the National Quality Award since 1973, with a conservation  rate consistently above 98%.  David has been a charter member of the Executive Council, at Manulife, one of five since inception in 1987.   For the over 12 years, David was a member of Agents Council, and was chairperson in 1987 and 1995.

In 1996, David was elected, for 6 years, to the Board of Directors of J.J. Barker Inc. of Cowansville,  Quebec.  

David, joined a major bank in Canada as an Estate Planning Advisor for the Quebec Province on September 1, 1997. It was his role to open up the area of Wealth Preservation Planning for the Bank.

David moved back into private practise in 2003
